The Historian Polybius sees Dernothenes' insults for what they really are:
"Although Demosthenes can be praised for rnany things, he must also be criticized because, thoughtlessly and unwisely, he dishonored and discredited the best of the Greeks" (XVII, 14, 1-12).

Demosthenes was a politician, politicians r mostly liars yet the Slavs beleive Demosthenes quote to be true. But when Gligorov (a politician also) sais that "we are not decendants of Phillip or Alexander" the Slavs call him a liar... I find it quite amusing, how u say it... Sinferondology!

One of the frequent users of the term "barbarian" in order to slander his political opponents was Demosthenes. His most known victim was Philip of Macedon. Not many people thought know that Demosthenes used it also against one of his political opponents, the Athenean orator Aristogeiton [Against Aristogeiton II. 26.17]

Demosthenes was Philip's political opponent and he called PHILIP a barbarian in order to insult him. Like it was the case when the Athenians called the Spartans barbarians.
