Antennarius commerson is a frogfish from Hawaii. Frogfish are ambush predators and often use their lure to attract prey (though it is not seen in this video).

  • I just bought one of these to put in a pred. tank. do you know the exact species of this fish? i know the one I bought had just came from a freight ship from fiji. i've had him for a couple days now. haven't seen him eat any of the mysid shrimp or pellets that i've been feeding the other inhabitatnts.

  • As it says in the description, this is Antennarius commerson. I'd have to see a picture of your fish to narrow down its identification. Any other fish in your tank that is even slightly bigger than your frogfish is fair game for it to be eaten. They will not eat small thawed mysis or pellets, they need live food or larger thawed fish that are wiggled at the end of a feeding stick (to simulate being alive).
