When my lifetime had just ended
And my death had just begun
I told you I'd never leave you
But I knew this day would come

Give me blood for my blood wedding
I am ready to be born
I feel new
As if this body were the first I'd ever worn

I need straw for the straw fire
I need hard earth for the plow
Don't ask me to reconsider
I am ready to go now

I'm going in I'm going in
This is how it starts
I can see in so far
But afterwards we always forget
Who we are

I'm going in I'm going in
I can stand the pain
And the blinding heat
'Cause I won't remember you
The next time we meet

You'll be making the arrangements
You'll be trying to set me free
Not a moment for the meeting
I'll be busy as a bee

You'll be talking to me
But I just won't understand
I'll be falling by the wayside
You'll be holding out your hand

Don't you tempt me with perfection
I have other things to do
I didn't burrow this far in
Just to come right back to you

I'm going in I'm going in
I have never been so ugly
I have never been so slow
These prison walls get closer now
The further in I go

I'm going in I'm going in
I like to see you from a distance
And just barely believe
And think that
Even lost and blind
I still invented love

I'm going in
I'm going in
I'm going in

  • I just learned of her death, my heart is breaking. I remember Lhasa at 17, newly arrived in Montreal, walking around the city with me, trying to get up her nerve to sing in one of the cafes there. Thank goodness she did find the courage, and brought her audiences 20 years of joy through her music.

  • Lighting candles helps, I find.

Also, you might not guess from listening to her music but Lhasa LOVED jokes, telling them and hearing them.

So honor her by learning and telling a good joke! She loved to laugh and would create the circumstance where folks could crack up hard.

  • Wow... This makes me think she was suicidal or hating herself when she wrote this. It is a different kind of beautiful.

  • I was honoured to listen to her in Reykjavík and I love her.... she says everything I would like to say, and so much better. I am full of gratitude.

  • her music is so damn depressing. I feel like committing suicide every time I hear her voice.

  • moj brat Gane je umro nocas sa 40ak godina od iste bolesti...cancer pankreasa...i ova umetnica je jedina prikladna za komentar...veoma mi je zao!!!

  • Lhasa died, age 37, on the evening of January 1, 2010

  • So sad that this space became too small for her .

  • Where you can find more sadness? In Der Leiermann Schubert? May be...

She was great. She was beautiful.

  • Slušam Lhasu vec dva dana

  • i have only just heard this lady by accident cos i hit on her tune rising and i feel so fucking emotional x

  • I will always love her voice and the unexpected corners it often took. She was really special.
