Question:

How do you know how long your DVR will record for and what happens when it's full?

Answer:

There really is no way to answer this question accurately. The best way to determine how long a DVR will run is to power it up, put it on the counter and run it!

Factors that will effect recording length:

number of channels
image quality
image resolution
scene complexity (is it a blue sky where every pixel is more or less the same, or is it a bustling bank where there are a constant flow of people entering and exiting?)

Other issues to consider are:

How is the unit configured to record?

Is it set for continuous recording?
Is it set for alarm trigger?
Will the recorder be activated by some kind of externally connected sensor device, such as a motion detector?
