Great footage. Yes, Chaplin and Davies had an affair. And "W.R." and Marion had a child together. I'm sure that it broke Marion's heart that she couldn't tell the world that she was a mother, but Hearst's wife wouldn't divorce him so they had to hide it and they passed the baby off as Marion's niece. Patricia Lake confessed on her deathbed that she was, indeed, the illegitimate offspring of Hearst and Davies. I never doubted it - she looked just like her father!

Chaplin was having an affair with Davies at the time - one wonders if Hearst was aware.
