In a society once know for it's agricultural background, how has the rise and impact of tourism affected Cornwall? We delve back in time to look at how the Industrial Revolution triggered the desire for 'The Holiday', and how technology brought this to be. Three separate identities speak about how tourism effects their profession, and how they feel about being a fish in an ocean of travellers. Economy, employment, conservation, immigration and congestion are all elements the industry has brought along with it, but is it for the better or the worse?

A short documentary made by John Howe & Richard Stephens towards our Digital Media (BA) hons degree at Falmouth College University.

Filmed using a Canon EOS 60D, edited in Adobe Premiere CS5.

  • Beautiful shots of the BWR really well shot, love your shots of the panniers.

  • @Marillionmad thank you so much! we've actually been re-editing this, adding in many more cutaways as looking back it concentrates far too greatly on talking heads :) thanks again! x

  • @johnhowetv No problem, I am considering getting the E0S 600D coz it records video, and I like taking photos too, so may as well get something that amalgamates the two, saving carrying two things. Simple lol

  • @Marillionmad good choice, looks like a nifty bit of kit. however if you want to cash out a little extra on the 60D for it's manual audio levels, flip screen and its 7D like footage i would recommend it! :)

  • Very interesting video John (and your friend Richard), well put together and very informative. Cornwall is a beautiful place to visit and anyone seeing this will see it for what it is. The one big negative (people buying into the lifestyle for holiday homes) is sadly not a problem only Cornwall has and like Malcolm Bell said, it's a problem that needs addressing. But all-in-all an excellent documentary.
