The space shuttle Discovery is attached to its 747 carrier aircraft to make its journey to Washington DC where it will go on display at the National Air and Space Museum. Three days of work are compressed into less than two minutes.

    True, but those technologies you mention should overlap. ;) Before ending space shuttle era NASA should already have replacement ready to launch. But that's not their fault... the goverment/presidents are to blame, coz of budget cuts! :/

    I would agree that this is an emotional sight. However, this is not a sad sight. The shuttles are 30 years old and its time for new technology. The end of the Space Shuttle era would open up opportunities for the private sector to spawn a space industry. The future of human space exploration has never been brighter since the Apollo era.

    Great video. Sad sight. The corpses of our manned space system rockets are being taken away by the 747 hearse.
