A little before the entrance of the village there is a crossroad leading to the monastery of the same name which gave its name to the village. The monastery which is active today as a nunnery, was built by the venerable Lavrentios in 1375 on the ruins of a previous convent built on the 12th century by monks of the Order of St. Benedict. Even though what draws most attention is the purple dome, what is of true value in the church is its chancel screen made of gilted carved wood and its icons.

Location...
Agios Lavrentios is at 21Km from Volos at an altitude of 650m, a few kilometers lower from the Ski Centre.
The village of Agios Lavrentios is one of the few in Pelion where the traditional architecture of the area has been preserved so strongly while at the same time it has an excellent network of cobblestone roads.
