I have only played 1nsane online some with a friend. People over at insaneheat play online, they use GameSpy. They have instructions on how to get everything set up to play online.

Just wondering, is there a way to play online without GameSpy or Hamachi? Because both things are way too hard and complex to use, at least for me, plus the GameSpy gets me a virus :(

Are you sure it's a virus and not just a false alarm from your anti virus?
You can go into 1nsane, host a game via tcp/ip, and then have people join that way, and it should work. If your hosting then the people joining will need your ip, and vice versa.

No, it said that is something that is not likely to be installed, yet I dont understand GameSpy and I preffer to use the traditional way to play 1NSANE online.
Btw, in most maps, there are some odd texture-squares, why they appear?

Not all maps were made that well, so some have bad textures, and even some good ones occasionally have texture problems. I'm not really sure why, but I have noticed it some.
