This is the first video I shot with my new Canon Rebel EOS T2i/550D.
( the shutter speed was 1/80)
The ISO is locked at 6400 (3200 would have been darker but much cleaner), F3.5 locked, optical IS on with manual focus, no UV filter.

I used a collapsed tripod to try steady the camera but It didn't really work did it? This is a raw upload straight from the cam. The internal mic was used and the wind was blowing, no audio noise canceling was enabled (I think).

I'm still getting to know the camera but I'm already smitten.

The location is downtown Courtenay B.C. Canada.

  • i see URANUS at 1:16

  • @dobre0nony Hey! My eyes are up here. ;)

  • At 4:00 what is that god-awful horrific screeching sound? It sounds like a dying pig squeeling and then something out of a horror film.

  • @NickLanc That was my army of bats.

  • What would you recommend for shooting mainly action sequences and sketches, an 18-135mm lens or an 18-55mm lens?

  • @enjoiR3 I couldn't tell you, but I think the 18-135mm just gives you a stronger zoom. Now some lenses like the stock lens change f/stops while you zoom, If you don't want this to happen there are lenses that don't change f/stops while you zoom, but they are generally more expensive. Aside from that, it's all about the wide angle or zoom ability. To cover your bases getting three lenses is a good idea, one macro, one telephoto and the stock lens.

  • There is no way that is 6400 on a t2i, my t3i @ 6400 looks like COMPLETE garbage.

  • What is the F? Yours was F3.5. I understand that the lower that number is, the more light it lets in. I have the 18-55mm lens (like you) and mine says it is F5.6. What is my problem?

  • How did you get it to perform so good in low light?? Even if I film indoors where there is no beaming sunlight, but still light from lamps and windows etc. it starts to get all grainy and look like crap. Help!

  • @enjoiR3 depends on what you're trying shoot and where. In the day time you can use a fast shutter. Try the 50mm 1.8. The 18-55 kit lens could work with a lot of light. The 18-135mm is just a nice lens to have period.

  • That is VERY clean for 6400 ISO! I don't know how you did it. If I go over 800 ISO with the stock lens I get rainbow noise all over the place. My 50mm helps because its so fast, but it still crops quite a bit.

  • wow! i love it

  • In wich mode do yo shoot? the Video symbol mode of Av,P or something?

  • this is amazing people say low light sucks with the kit lens.. this is waaay better than what i have...should i get it for shooting video???? cuz thats what i need a new camera for

  • Taking your new baby Rebel T2i for a walk around town! How sweet! :)
