This is part one (of two) of a lecture in a first year law course at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada) which focuses on human rights law. I introduce students to Hip Hop and explain why and how we are going to use it as a tool throughout the year to draw connections between theoretical and legal concepts. Part one is the introduction to Hip Hop and relies on Prof. Josef Sorett's (Columbia University, USA) lecture. Part two begins to make some theoretical links between the song and the course material.
Enjoy !
