Sandy Denny - Solo - 1974

Thanks to GinaInTheKingsRoad for this info: 'The Fairport Convention lineup here would shortly record "Rising for the Moon": Sandy, Donahue, & Trevor Lucas (all formerly of Fotheringay) plus Swarb, Dave Pegg on bass, and Dave Mattacks on drums.'

A truly gorgeous vocal, fine supportive band, and "antique" video quality. Let's count our blessings!

The clip is missing the very beginning: Good morning, good afternoon, and what have you got to say ...

  • This is not from a Fotheringay show; they disbanded in 1971. The Fairport Convention lineup here would shortly record "Rising for the Moon": Sandy, Donahue, & Trevor Lucas (all formerly of Fotheringay) plus Swarb, Dave Pegg on bass, and Dave Mattacks on drums.

There's a reason they call this era "The Fotheringport Confusion!" Thank you for the upload.

  • Thank you! for filling in the gaps. I took the liberty of quoting you in video info - hope you don't mind :-)

  • Thanks so very muchly, there is so little of Sandy. When i saw Fairport in Brisbane in 1974, Sandy sang none of her own songs except for John the Gun. What wouldn't I have done to hear and see her sing solo on her piano and guitar. The sound of her voice, which was distorted and too loud and Fairport too jiggy and jangly for me but nothing could stop me crying at the beauty of her voice.
