Alberta's Crime Prevention Framework shifts the policy focus from the enforcement of crime to a more balanced approach that supports an increased emphasis on the prevention of crime. Government of Alberta had a recent announcement of $1.4 million in critical funding that will enable the Canadian Somali community to prevent youth crime. This is a great victory for the Somali community. After our advocacy efforts, the government has listened to our concerns by providing the Alberta Somali community with funding to deal with the loss of many young men to gun violence.
