I guess she says the truth because she's tall and young guys don't usually like girls taller than them and I think that everyone knew her father left home and the fact her real name was Turquotte - sounds foreigner so maybe she felt really out of place when she was teenage...Maybe guys were interested in her but too shy to do anything. That's perhaps why she's humble and nice and not full of herself or arrogant. I believe that she was a lonely person and that guys pbbly found her odd.
