Those jobs seemed to get sucked up by mission agencies that take as much as $400 out of the missionaries salary so the days of making $1500 (Canadian) minus $200 in deductibles for taxes plus free housing and free utilities and airfare reimbursement (after a one year or two year commitment) are disappearing. Not to mention that there used to be full vacation pay at the churches as well for the month of August (so you get paid to vacation).

Ask your church in Japan if they would like to have a missionary sent from North America. Although many missionaries require a salary there are many more that willing to work voluntarily. Next, write in Japanese to the email address provided in the video. Thanks

To answer your question, yes... if it is possible but to find mature Christian Missionary English Teachers (METs) is key in order to duplicate the system of ESL/EFL Ministry in Japan as it once used to be. Try filling out the forms at Teach-ESL
When I worked as a MET, the church paid about $2200 Canadian but they humbly said that they would only pay me $1000 USD per month. 18 classes and all the in-between time is for friendship evangelism.
