A true story of a real bad man of the American Wild West, I originally wrote this around 1969.

The Ballad of Rufus Buck

My name is Rufus Buck and I am running out of time
I'm heading back to Muskogee, a little Indian town
US Marshal Rutherford, he is on my trail
and before the day is over he will have me back in jail
Judge Parker is the Hanging Judge in Fort Smith, Arkansas
and I will meet my maker there for crimes against the law
a rapist and a murderer, I deserve to die
---- won't be long before I take a last look at the sky
But before I say goodbye to life, this poem I leave for you
although I am a bad man --- to you my heart is true
I dreamt I was in Heaven among the angels fair
I'd ne'er seen none so handsome that twine in golden hair
They looked so neat and sang so sweet, and played the Golden Harp
I was about to pick an angel out and take her to my heart
But the moment I began to plea I thought of you my love
there was none I'd seen so beautiful on Earth or Heaven above

man, i gotta hand it to you EUROPEANS. I mean, they tend to know a helluva lot about a lot of Black people, (incidentally, HIP HOP culture as well) whereas a lot of dumb ass crackers who live in the USA would spend their ENTIRE lives thinking that they were the only people who had a history...good or bad...and endorse Billy the kid and Jesse James as "heros" and "idols",= intriguing...!
