Vienna 1969: Heinz Feix (b), Peter Hoffmann (p), Otti Kitzler (t), Horstl Bichler (dr), Alfons Wuerzl (cl), Norbert Vas (tb). This is a Tribute to our daddy Otti Kitzler (1942-1978). This recording was found in the ORF archives some years ago. A friend did this for us, Otti Kitzler´s children, otherwise nobody ever would have seen this tape again. I have made available some flyers and photos on http://musicanthropology.blogspot.com , too. As much as I know, this is the only video left, recorded in the 20th century sixties by the ORF Austria. The BHJB has a website here http://www.barrelhouse-jazzband.at , they gig each 23rd of December in Jazzland Vienna. The BHJB was formed around 1960, whose founders, my daddy and his friends, were only eighteen years old.

I edited the tracks, cut it and added the graphics. Therefore it is my version under:

To your comments I would also like to add that this video was narrated by Günther Schifter, an Austrian radio personality, now unfortunately not among us anymore. For many years he had a radio show on the Austrian State Radio called "Music Hall" featuring jazz and dance music from 78rpm records. I remember him raving over the "Flat Foot Floogie" - he played as many versions from as many bands as he had in his extensive record collection. We miss him dearly.

  • Fun to hear and watch.
