Jello Biafra and Mojo Nixon perform the song "Love Me, I'm a Liberal" at a special benefit for Paul Williams in San Francisco on June 28, 2009. This is an old Phil Ochs song that was rewritten / updated by Jello & Mojo.

Did I mention this was Mojo's first performance in San Francisco in 10 years?

In 1995, Paul Williams (founder of Crawdaddy magazine) suffered a traumatic brain injury in a bicycle accident, leading to early onset of dementia, and a steady decline to the point where he now requires full-time care. The burden on his immediate family has been immense, and there's an effort to solicit help, in the form of contributions of any size, to assist in Paul's continued care and medical attention.

  • By the some people's definitions, a guy like Jesus would probably be considered "mentally diseased." Compassion for others seems to be considered a weakness, sadly.....

  • The record this song comes from is hilarious.

  • Hey, he might be fat but he still hasn't lost that awesome voice!

  • Isn't it just special that today's "liberals" stand slightly to the right of Richard Nixon, while the Teabaggers and Kochsuckers stand to the right of Quisling. Repeal Godwin's Law now! Poor Phil Ochs. It does seem he was too much of a visionary for even the 70's.

  • Jello is a slob. But he's our slob.

  • @ejenkins132 The logic of calling Nazi's socialists is like saying the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea democratic or a republic.

  • Nazi Germany was a fascist state and in no way had a socialist form of government, despite the name "national socialist party." Socialism and fascism are pretty much at opposite ends of the spectrum. The only more opposite you could get is talking about communism and fascism.

  • @Ranaiaen "Nazi" is short for Nationalist Socialist. Real capitalists stand for small government and want nothing to do with the merger of government and business.

  • @ReachDeep1 If socialist are fascists then capitalists are nazi's.

  • Well done, Messers Biafra and Nixon.
