Nate Silver/Stephen Baker Keynote Conversation pt1: SXSW 09

On March 15, 2009 Veteran BusinessWeek columnist Stephen Baker sat down with American statistician Nate Silver, founder and president of fivethirtyeight.com, for the 2009 SXSW Interactive Sunday Keynote conversation.

Prior to the last presidential election Nate Silver was best know for developing PECOTA - a system for forecasting the performance and career development of Major League Baseball players. When he turned those skills to the political arena his site fivethirtyeight.com became a surprisingly accurate barometer for the tide of the 2008 presidential campaign.

With his recent book "The Numerati" chronicling the growing power of metadata in today's society, Steven Baker is particularly suited to the task of shining a light on what this type of analysis means to our culture at large.
