Link for SATTB Choiparts for Byrd- "Miserere mei Deus.
Tenor Choir Practice: "Miserere mei, Deus" by William Byrd (1539 - 1623) is from the second volume of his Cantiones Sacrae. The text is from Psalm 51. It is a five-voiced motet, with two tenor parts, and is perfect for choral performance. Byrd's "Miserere mei Deus" , is an example of his finest and most profound writing in which he packs into this brief motet as much expressive power as Gregorio Allegri does using the entire psalm in his setting of the Miserere.
Latin: Miserere mei, Deus, secundum magnam
misericordiam tuam: et secundum
multitudinem miserationum tuarum, dele
iniquitatem meam.
English: Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy
great compassion: and according to the multitude
of thy mercies blot out mine iniquity.
