how do you get it to float at the centre... its not sinking to the floor and its not rising to the celiling, its weightless with no down pull or up pull.

Not too hard. This is only the 3rd robot I've made that required soldering! Just be careful you don't pop the balloon part with the circuit board when putting it all together like I did :(
