Buster Keaton - The Railrodder pt.1

I remember seeing this movie when I was in elementary school, maybe in grade four; though I've not realised it until recently, this film was a formidable force behind the desire that I had in my late teens and twenties to roadtrip across Canada.

He crawls out of the water at Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia. The rail line there was abandoned in the early 80s. Great beach to surf and watch waves.

Can someone tell me when this was made? I remember seeing this in high school during the seventies.
