This is a sound demo of a CMOS based polyphonic synthesizer that I made.

  • Great work, very interesting, powerful sound

    Is it completely analog?

  • @Tiefengrund Yes and no. It uses digital CMOS chips to create an analog square wave, and then more CMOS chips to create rhythm and effects, and finally two traditional analog filters that use CMOS chips in the circuit along with an opamp. So it makes an analog sound, but is very stable and doesn't vary with temperature. The CMOS circuits are very simple, so that is why I used them (it was my first project). I just stacked many simple circuits together until it made something more complex.

  • Great job Cyno, the wiring must have been a hell!

  • @Kabzoer Yes, way too many wires! I had some difficulties closing the case up when I was done.

  • excellent, some of the sounds are very glitchy and lofi while others are very musical and pleasant though with an interesting cmos twist.

  • drone machine lo fi i like it

  • WOW. I'm speechless. Nice work! Especially for a first time job. That wasp filter sounds great. I'm going the modular route myself but this is a very hip live performance instrument! Huge bass at 2:20

  • well done,. that's one manical synth. I like the massive distorted sounds.

    excellent demo!

(nice sound from 3:22 - 3:57 but that's also because what you play)
