  • I may not be a pure christian, (Spiritual actually) but I feel like when I listen to Rutter, My inner christian comes out. It's just like. "haaaaaaa <3" :D

  • probably NBC said that rutter was today greatest living composer because he is 66 years old, has a very long trajectory, he arranged hundreds of christmas carols for choir, and his works like requiem, magnificat or gloria are very popular. Rutter created the Cambridge singers 30 years ago, how old was whitacre then???? and they probably said that because they were having him as a guest, they are not going to introduce him as "one of the many choral composer out there nowadays"

  • the tenor part is to high for meXD

  • @nirvanatoday It's not the person being glorified, it's their work. I couldn't care less who John Rutter

is, and I know almost nothing about him personally. All I know is that his music appeals to me.

The quote was an accurate one from Wikipedia. It was simply a statement of opinion, as are all statements

about music. I don't know what you mean by my "general thinking" and why you think I'm trying to impose anything on anyone is a mystery to me.

  • @BRUC2016 what mdmf117 said (was thinking of Lux Aurumque too ;) ) and I simply don't like people glorifying a person that much. As you said, everybody has to choose for himself and quoting a statement from wikipedia (!) and from a TV show only reflects one person's opinion. I didn't like the general thinking of your comment. Music is something personal and you shouldn't impose your taste on anybody :)

  • This song always brings me to tears...

  • This was the first song I learned in the first choir I joined, almost ten years ago. It's still beautiful. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!

  • @mdmf117 Thanks for the suggestions. I'll listen to them and see how

well they compare with Rutter's work. Of course, beauty is in the eye and ear

    of the beholder.

  • @BRUC2016 - search for eric whitacre on youtube - particularly the songs Lux Aurumque and With a Lily in your hand - they are not in the same style of Rutter but they are great choral works. Karl Jenkins, Lauridsen, Whitacre - they are all on the same level of John Rutter

  • Hoogeboom? Hi! I think we're related. I'm a branch off from the Hoogeboom. I'm a Hogoboom!
