Aw, come on, Williams had to keep it clean for FOX, so he did a (still funny) stereotype number. As if we didn't make jokes about fat, stupid American rednecks.
Plus I love the irony that the audience was cheering for and most likely lusting after at least three Russians (the sytycd dancers) moments before :)

I am a Russian, and that was really funny, I actually laughed hard. Though It was all based solely upon the stereotypes about russians and had little truth to it, Robin Williams is Robin Williams anyway ;-)

This reminds me of an old Russian cold war joke :
Communist party demonstration in New York demanding the release of Angela Davis from jail. Police starts to arrest the demonstrators. An onlooker is grabbed by a policeman too. He screams "Why me ?
