AMERICAN MASTERS Carol Burnett: A Woman of Character premieres Monday, November 5 at 9 p.m. (ET) on PBS (check local listings)

Just about any American watching television past 10 p.m. between 1967 and 1978 has a favorite moment from The Carol Burnett Show: "Starlet" descending the Tara staircase, Mrs. Wiggins fiddling with the intercom, Eunice bickering, Mama nagging, and any number of Tarzan yells. AMERICAN MASTERS pays tribute to the entertainer who transformed herself into a one-woman army of comedic characters and seduced countless Saturday night friends to fall in love with her finest character of all: Carol Burnett.

  • oh, the very end was so depressing.....but shes just great, isn't she?

  • She is a national treasure. Being able to make people laugh for decades, what a marvelous human being. When I hear that there is no royalty in America, I can think of only two words in response. CAROL BURNETT.

  • The greatest female sketch comedienne of all time by 100 miles. Brilliant performer.

  • Carol Burnett was such an iconic person. She touched so many lives with her comedy. She made a lot of people laugh and forget their problems or lives for the hour that she was on. I remember watching her shows for the short time she was on at my age. I loved watching her. There will be no one else like her or her show. She's one of a kind.

  • Jeez, why did they include Boggy (Peter Bogdanovich) in it? He's about as close to what Carol and her co. did as a cat is to a bathtub... Anyhoooo, I would've killed to be in the audience when she was doing her show...except I wasn't born yet. The kind of stuff that Carol did was so timeless, so focused on quality. It'll never be that way again. The comedians of today, save for a few of the old ones, are not going to be remembered or revered in the way that Carol will be. Thank God she lived.

  • @homeichan Thank you

  • @ninetiesbaby10 just type in "Carol Burnett Show- Nora Desmond Gets Roasted"

  • Does anyone know if the clip where she says "We had FACES" is on youtube?? If so what is the title of it?? Thanks

  • In our life time, there will never be another great comediene like Carol Burnett.

  • We had FACES!

  • There will never be another Carol Burnett. She remains my all time fav performer and I have met her on a few occassions.. She is exactly what you would hope: sincere, open and interested in what you have to say.
