A tiny tiny Clip from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 2 Episode 13 The Last Roundup. What I personally find interesting about this clip is that the timing makes it ripe for a scene to drive home the idea concept of surprise VS startle. Fluttershy is discussing it, Big Mcintosh (I know it's spelled Macintosh on the toy, but computers are not fruit.) is here blowing up this balloon. But the time this scene cuts away, he's clearly still got enough air in his cheeks to continue blowing. Also, in the BG, you'll notice that there are no balloons on the floor for the duration of the scene, but it's pretty clear Big Mcintosh doesn't breath helium. (They do have helium tanks. Check Pinkie's fantasy sequence in The Ticket Master .) Just a bit of speculation, but I question if the balloon was meant to burst here, and was clipped for time.

Buuut. Somepony I chatted with did point out the possibility that the balloons are being tied with magic and then enchanted after inflation to float. Considering Twilight's presence, that's entirely possible.

Anywho. I'm always glad when the balloons are actually animated in scenes like this. It's a bit subtle, but it's more lively. For an example where the balloons don't really come off as balloons, check out the backgrounds in Nightmare Night. (New unique balloon designs featured there, btw.)
