April 29, 2011 | Bowery Poetry Club | New York City

With Amélie Nothomb, Jolie Hale, Richard Sieburth, Waqas Khwaja , Adeeba Talukder, and Famida Riaz; moderated by Michael F. Moore

Back for the fourth year running, the Translation Slam puts different translations of the same text side by side and invites the translators, poets, and audience members to join in a lively critical debate of how each version meets its creative challenges. Borrowed from our friends in Montréal, and fine-tuned to a New York beat, this year's edition brings together two poets from French and Urdu, Amélie Nothomb and Fahmida Riaz, and four translators: Jolie Hale and Richard Sieburth (from French); and Waqas Khwaja and Adeeba Talukder (from Urdu).
