"My heart belongs to daddy" was composed by Cole Porter for the 1938 musical "Leave it to me". The original singer was stage star Mary Martin but it has since been performed by many famous singers such as Julie London and Eartha Kitt... Perhaps the best known version today is Marilyn Monroe's rendition in "Let's make love".

This version by Bert Ambrose and his orchestra is a very hot and sensual one, especially in the second part of the song... The record unfortunately is quite worn out, so my advice is to hook your computer up to a good sound system, turn up the volume and move away your furniture : let youself be swept away by this great rendition....

The video is a tribute to some "bad women" of the silver screen (maybe the title,of this video should have been "Ambrose & the loose women")... It shows Joan Crawford in "Rain" (1932), Kay Francis in "Mandalay" (1934), Hedy Lamarr in "Algiers" (1938), Greta Garbo and Erich von Stroheim in "As you desire me" (1932), Mae West, and Rita Hayworth in "Gilda".... Of course others could have been inlcuded but I choose some of my favourite scenes.

About the record :

Decca F7293 / mx. DR.4021

As perviously stated the record is quite worn out.
This is the A-side to "Have you met miss Jones?"

Transferred without modification.

Sound equipment used :
Shure M78S cartridge and N78S stylus
Turntable : Stanton T.90
TerraTec 78RPM Phono Pre-amp

After processing, this video will also be offered in HD.
However whether this function works will depend on your Internet connection and the abilities of your computer (your screen may freeze).

After uploading it will take some time for the image to be fully processed (and become sharp)

  • "Flower Drum Song" was where I first heard this tune. I had no idea it had such a heritage! Thanks! I love to play it on theatre organs!

  • Even in this recording, to me unusual indeed for him, Ambrose is the best! And a nice video! Thank a lot!

  • Kay Francis as Spot White is outrageously sexy but with no vulgarity thanks to her unique looks

  • Who's your daddy?

  • ..Even better than the recording itself (I think), is the film to it! Especially in the end, when the music and the dancer are 100% synchronic! That's fun! Well done! *****

  • Joan Crawford est juste incroyable. En parfait harmonie avec l'ambiance de la chanson! Merci
