How annoying, I forgot to add another little snippet in here of a male close up, but no worries. Anyway, despite having been to Wales a good few times, this was a lifer for me as I'd never been in the summertime.

  • Where exactly is your area? Pied flycatchers are quite common in western parts of the UK in the summer - but only in the mature, usually oak, woodland that they breed in. They like artificial nestboxes fortunately. It sounds strange to me that you don't see the males very often, perhaps they migrate past you in a different direction?

  • Rare to see adult male pied flycatchers in my zone. Most individuals are females or juveniles.
