Who knew that the Pensions Industry could be so cool?
On 2 and 3 February over 300 actuaries, lawyers, fund managers, consultants, trustees and others packed out the 100 Club on Oxford Street, for their second annual "battle of the bands". Our very own "Priority 1" was in there.
Over the two nights, 12 bands fought to be crowned champions of Pensions Rocks 2011.
Pensions Rocks is a one of a kind event for the pensions industry, allowing actuaries, lawyers, accountants, investment experts, consultants and trustees to fulfil their wildest rock fantasies in one of London's most historic venues. And it's all for charity. Each band arrives representing their own chosen charity, and the winning band takes home the lion's share of the money raised on the night, through ticket sales, band entry fees and a raffle.
Other companies taking part were: Redington, Xafinity, Schroders, Aviva Investments, Mercer/Neuberger Berman, the National Employment Savings Trust (Nest), F&C Investments, Towers Watson, Pension Corporation, Standard Life Investments & Russell Investments.
The two nights raised over £15,000 for Charity and saw Schroders and Towers Watson crowned as champions of the 2011 Pensions Rocks!.
Pensions Minister Steve Webb and shadow minister Rachel Reeves acted as compere for the evenings.
Hearty congratulations to all our band members. Kevin Watts (Bass), Tom Moysey (Guitar and Vocals), Gaenor Lovejoy (Backing Vocals), Rachel Bruzon (Backing Vocals) and Ian Lyall (Guitar). The band are managed by Claire Steel.
