It shows the possibility childs have to execute difficult works if they are well guided and work hard every day . This here is the result of at least 8 years hard work. Don t forget the interview of Mme Argerich where she says her mother obliged her to work . That gave her the possibility to make this incredible and fascinating long carèer

@mmoynan thanks for you reply. we do agree totally. she sure is unique and magnetic. Chura Cherkassky turned me on to her years ago and only recently I was talking to pianist Eduardo Delgado who again says she is unique as a musical personality :) I can't wait to hear her in the Beethoven 1st next month here in Los Angeles If she is here.... I am there

@TJFNYC212 I also agree that some of her fans are a little crazy and simply don't WANT to see her flaws or something (I also think that some have the crush factor :P). And I can't stand her more intimate Chopin either. But then again, no pianist is built for everything. Even considering all of her major shortcomings, I still think she's worthy of being thought of as ONE of the greatest pianists of the 20th century--because she is still phenomenal and completely unsurpassed in many, many ways.

@TJFNYC212 I completely agree. I think part of the reason she arouses such fanaticism in fans is because of how truly exciting her sound is--it's the opposite of boring, and therefore kind of grabs to listener and lures them into a state of complete admiration (at least that's what it was for me). I'm a huge Argerich fan, but wouldn't call her the greatest in the world (frankly, such a label is ludicrous). I do find her repertoire a little limited and lackluster as well--but I'm still a huge fan

the Hayden concerti. Another thing: her repertoire pales in comparison to many other great 20th century pianists: Richter and Gilels for example. Her rendition of the Chopin B minor is without equal in my book but the rest seems not to reach the level of a Michelangeli. Once again, I repeat that I adore MA but think the fans get carried away in their praise.

I love Martha Argerich but I do find that her "FANS" are fanatics in the real sense of the word. Why is she the greatest pianist in the world is the question??????? I love her in many works but I hate her in others. I love her in Schumann, Tschaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Prokoviev but I can stand her in Mozart, Brahms. I love her in the Chopin e minor concerto: she owns it yet I cannot stand her in the more intimate Chopin. I love her in the Beethoven 1,2 and III but I can stand her in the
It sounds incredibe and it's so fun to listen to such a remarkable recording...
