So recently I decided I wanted to get into writing chiptune music (I believe it's called chip tracking, correct me if I'm wrong) so I downloaded Milkytracker and I've been learning how to use it. For my first project, I decided to do Reflect the Storm by In Flames in 8-bit (previously I had tried The Trooper by Iron Maiden, but the first five minutes I spent working on it were awful) and I think it turned out decent. It's lacking in effects and looks rather unprofessional and rough when compared to some other tracks (Like the demo tunes that came with Milkytracker...), but, well, you have to start somewhere, and I'm rather proud of this. So enjoy.

  • where did you learn how to do this? i have MT but none of the videos or anything that i've found helps at all

    hahahahaha

    i can't even make a sound haha

  • @dandyrandy88 I learned pretty much just from the videos on youtube. Look up 'milkytracker drums,' it's a tutorial for percussive sounds that I found pretty helpful.

  • where can i learn to use milkytracker (the 8bit version) ? any videos?

  • There are plenty of videos on Youtube, or you could wing it. I had little idea what I was doing when I made this.

  • Dude, I have to say, this is -really- well done. For a lot of the 8-bit tunes I've heard for in flames Compositions, this one is by far the best.

Most people seem to only use two tones at a time, or to add notes that aren't there... You sir, layer your tones and are true to the composition.

Thank you very much for making it, sir.

It sounds like the overworld theme for a really good RPG.

  • One of the best remixes on Youtube.

  • Good work broseph. Does milkytracker use MML?

  • You should be proud.

  • pretty sick 8 bit :D

  • I also use Milkytracker! But i make NES chiptunes (4 channels) with Megaman samples

  • This shouldve been on contra.

  • Great stuff! I'm requesting more IF-songs!
