What always strikes me when I watch videos of Joan Sutherland is her consistency. She always strived to give her audiences value for money. There might have been better actresses and more thrilling performers but Joan never failed to come up with the goods!

Age has little to do with the quality of the voice, TECHNIQUE is the key! A 20 year old can sound old if the voice is not secure in the mask/middle register....and both Sutherland and Bonynge talk about this.
