The hosts file is a computer file used to store information on where to find a network connection or intersection on a computer network. This file maps hostnames to IP addresses. In other words, when you type in a web page address, the browser has to translate it to an IP address. The IP address directs the browser to the exact location of the web page you typed in. Take a look at How to modify the hosts file video and learn where to find the hosts file, how it looks, how it can be manipulated and how to repair a compromised hosts file.
