5 THINGS ABOUT TT TU, THE MAN BEHIND THE MOLE

VOTE TT "THE MOLE" TU #202 for ASUC SENATE!

T.T. Tu advocates for student voices and expression on campus and seeks to bring ASUC resources to the greater UC Berkeley campus community. Passionate about journalism and design, he serves as the Layout Director of hardboiled APA Newsmagazine* as well as the Art Director of BARE Magazine*. T.T. has also been active in the ASUC* space, serving as the current Transparency Director in the Executive Vice President's Office* and Internal Relations Director in the Academic Affairs Vice President's Office*. He also is a Social Chair in the Undergraduate Political Science Association* and is a member of the imagiCal Public Relations and Promotions Team*.

PLATFORMS

1. Creating Equal Access and Resources for the Publication Community on Campus

Publications have not been given equal access to resources and funding and the awareness surrounding publications within and outside of the publication community has been very low. In order to strengthen publications on campus, we need to increase collaboration and discussion between them as well as committing to sustaining our publications. To do this, publications need to gain stable funding as well as use other measures like speaker series, publications and internships fairs, and other collaboration events to raise awareness for the alternative press on campus.

2. Increasing ASUC Visibility and Accountability

The ASUC as an institution needs to engage the student body and bring the issues that it is working on to the campus' attention. Currently, the ASUC does allow for students to voice their opinions at Senate meetings but it is not always accessible to students. ASUC public officials need to proactively seek feedback from the student population through senator Sproul hours, public forums, and town halls. ASUC officials should also be required to submit monthly newsletters to students who are interested in finding out more about the ASUC.

3. Raising Awareness About the Diversity Within the Asian American identity

Asian Pacific Americans occupy about 43% of the campus population and are not seen as minorities on campus. However, the term "Asian" assumes that all struggles and culture that come from these people are the same and discounts the differences. As senator, I want to promote and advocate for API ethnic diversity and educate the campus on the diversity of the various cultures within the Asian identity. By having critical dialogue and events, I hope to not only educate the campus but also confront anti-Asian crime and stereotypes.
