"Automatic" got to # 2 on the UK pop chart.

In the early/mid 80s a lot of funk-ish music crossed from the R&B chart to the US and/or UK pop chart. AND vice-versa.

David Bowie's "Let's Dance" got to # 14 on the US R&B chart in 1983.

Melba Moore's "Love's Comin At Ya" reached #15 on the UK pop chart.

A few more examples, the US R&B Chart: "Shock the Monkey", "Miss Me Blind" "Out of Touch."

You may find that it is worth the time to take a look and listen at the song lists that

have been posted to Itunes Ping that meld together rhythmically & stylistically

compatible early/mid 80s R&B/funk songs and early/mid 80s synth pop/new wave

songs. Lots of music that was either forgotten or not ever learned

of but was very enjoyable or would be very enjoyable if it was rediscovered or
