This year Battles released their second full-length album, "Gloss Drop" and stopped by after their set at Pitchfork to talk with XRT's Marty Lennartz backstage in the Heineken Hideaway.

  • @Kelavmeister I'm fucking over him too, every single interview or review, someone HAS to bring him up like he was the mastermind behind Battles, and I think with the release of Gloss Drop it's pretty clear that that was not the case. Don't get me wrong Tyondai's solo stuff is INCREDIBLE, but in my opinion Battles is better off without him.

  • @Colenelly yeah thats what im saying. sorry if my comment was confusing. i was just saying its obvious that they were pretty upset with tyondai also.

either way, i love both battles and tyondai.

  • @cloneofbogart Why the hell would they keep using his vocals? he's not in the band. The new album features all different vocalists so it totally makes sense that they if they keep playing older music, they'd use a new singer.

  • 4:44 stanier is fuckin hilarious

  • gloss drop is super

  • @TheJimmypage82 I know, right?

  • still listening to Gloss Drop a LOT... imo the vocals in battles were peripheral anyway - but these three dudes playing together are a musical gem.

  • This interview gave alot of good info to me ha.. Battles #1

  • @ericryanmcgehee I TOTALLY AGREE!!!

  • I think it was shitty for tyondai to leave to be honest.... he still is one of my favorite musicians ever, but i feel like he only left because of his success with Central Market. Its pretty obvious that the rest of battles aren't too happy with the whole decision since theyve wiped him out of all aspects of the band (i.e. the new vocals on the live version of atlas).
