I wrote this song a long time ago. At the time I was just starting a new phase of being a singer songwriter. My story is that when I was 6 years old I started playing guitar, and then I didn't practice until I was 11, but really I only practiced Nirvana. I fronted a band until I was 19, but gave that up and jumped over to bass. In that new period, I'd been playing loads of Ryan Adams in my stereo, Re-igniting my love for that style of music rather than Jazz, Funk and 'smart' pop, you could say. It's funny how such a simple song could hold so much emotion within it. For me, that's the secret, start with the story and tell it well. Don't over complicate it and be true to the song. This track has always worked in every setting, live and recording. I actually stopped playing this song live and I don't know why. So as soon as I bought it back into rehearsals the guys in the band told me how much they loved it. It's about a girl with whom I had a long confused courting. Nothing ever happened with us, and it was a long time ago, I guess that's why I let the song go.
