MUNDO, the Maastricht University centre for international cooperation in academic development, organised an international seminar from 18,19 and 20 May 2009 and hosted University leaders from 8 different African Universities to discuss globalisation in higher education. Aim of the seminar is to provide a discussion platform for the top management of African Universities. The platform will look at what globalisation of knowledge will imply for African research and higher education? The seminar will deal with various aspects of globalisation in higher education such as the influence of ICT, distance education, international cooperation, graduate programmes and the promotion of knowledge economy in Africa and finally issues related to brain drain and diaspora. The seminar is co-financed by the European Union/ACP Group through the EDULINK programme.
