I believe that Tom Ogden in Las Angeles performed this with Max Maven doing the voice over. As the story goes, Copperfield "asked" Tom permission to do the routine, Tom said "no" and Copperfield did it on his Great Wall of China TV special anyway. Since then, since the act isn't copyrighted, it has seen many marketed incarnations.
i woudlnt really say its too old to perform anymore. This one is a classic and will never get boring. But most of the "old" tricks get updated into newer and better versions. So they are still around but just have been improved to be even better than they originally were. btw i am calm :) :) just defending my magic
@adamquin07 Hey calm down, look I didn't mean any disrespect. I know the same tricks circulate, some have been around for hundreds of years. I was just expressing my opinion that this particular trick has become old. That is my opinion and I had no intention to force it on anyone else. And by the way, Copperfield wasn't the first person I saw perform this trick, there are a ton of videos on this act.
@moderndaechristine if you knew anything about magic you would know that alot of magicians do the same tricks. As there are only so many. What makes it different is how they are performed. A trick can look very different with varied presentation. Thats what is done here as opposed to how copperfield did it. People assume copperfield made the trick up but he did not. He was just the first you saw do it.
@Freezepally It vanished.
