"My bible is the Bill of Rights." Me too! This was changed on the Born Again American web page version of the song. It says "My Bible and the Bill of Rights." Why Norman Lear allowed the words to be changed I do not know.
The issue the song addresses is civil rights and equality under the law. The song is not about religious freedom. Only 33% of our population attend any church on a regular basis. 66% are exercising their religious freedom by not attending/supporting organized religion.

This is a terrific song, regardless of your religious affiliation. This is about AMERICA, the passion for freedom, the belief that our founding fathers got it right the first time in our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. It brings us patriots together and lets those who wish to trash our Constitution know we will stand against them.
