@pmbronson Here in NY the deal between my dad and his lawyer was that they'd take 25% of all "back" payments. But for my dad social security accepting his case immediately so there were no back payments. He never actually had to pay the lawyer because there was nothing for them to collect on. Initially, they charged him $150 for a filing fee, but I think he got most of that back.

One more thing. When I sent in my info, I sent in about 7 statements. I had a few from family, but the rest were from friends and coworkers. I even found and got a letter from one of the Firemen who have taken me to the hospital after a seizure. He even was able to say how I tried to beat the crap out of him and 3 other burly men as I was coming out of one of my seizures. When I sent everything in, I had to send it all in a box because envelopes were just 2 small.

I sent my letter in to SSA today. I hope I will get a response sometime soon. Plus I guess I should be looking for a lawyer. The only question is how much money do they want when you win??? People who are on Social Security don't make that much money. But we will see what happens.............

Das ist entsetzlich !!! Ich habe noch 9 Monate eine Krankenversicherung. Dann stehe ich vor dem gleichen Problem. Ich hatte Tranen in meinen Augen. Es tut mir unendlich leid.

@GermanyChristiane Vielen Dank für Ihren Kommentar. Ich dachte, meine Regierung würde das nicht für mich. Ich glaube, ich habe einen Anwalt zu bekommen, um mich mit meinen Problemen zu helfen.
