New York Hall of Science approached Jeff Kennedy Associates to design part of their new bilingual traveling exhibition on evolution. JKA had worked successfully with FableVision on previous interactive and media exhibits, and they asked FableVision to create original characters, an animated storybook film, and an interactive activity for the exhibition.
Peter H. Reynolds designed and illustrated the characters of Charlie, Grandpa and Kiwi, and the FableVision team animated and scored the 15-minute film. The film, shown on a giant screen in the exhibition's Story Theater, tells the story of a young boy who travels back in time to discover, through the help of dinosaurs and his great-great-great-great Grandpa, how and why the kiwi is a flightless bird.
