Ah yes, "You Can Make Me Free" in its full 6-minute glory. Paul McCartney must have been a big influence on Billy the Kid back in the day cause this song is very similar in style to "Hey Jude"!

I'd only ever heard the short version of this song until now, and I thought I loved it, but this version . . . this version . . . daaaaang.

You're right. Heck, with the pitch shifted up as this is, a person could easily be forgiven for thinking it *was* a Paul McCartney track. It honestly sounds like something I could see him putting out.

Sorry, but honestly I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm just saying that this song's chorus sounds like chorus in Macca's "Maybe I'm Amazed".

What I mean is that the 1983 version not only corrects the pitch, but it also edits out the long instrumental outro. But if I were to slow down this bastardized 1971 version by 4 percent, that's how I know the song would run for 6:15 (from 6:02) - it would have the same pitch as the 1983 version, but it also would retain the long outro.
I used Sony Vegas Pro 10 to do the pitch-correcting job.

What do you mean?

Without any further editing, the pitch-corrected version of this tune would run 6:15.

Which came out in 1970, so would Macca accuse BJ over this?

This is one of my all time favorite songs by Billy Joel. I am saddened that I am like the 19th person to like this. Ugh!!!! Get liking this people!!! he is awesome!!!

Definitely one of his best. I have them all, including the ORIGINAL vinyl on Family Productions. I got that one years ago when a radio station that was closing down was selling their music inventory. Got i for under a buck, What a steal!
Where did you get this original recording of Cold Spring Harbor?
