Anti-witchcraft conference attacked by Christian church

Dual highlights recent events in Nigeria and gives some opinion.

Leo Igwe, a friend of the British Humanist Association and Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Humanist Movement, was attacked on the 30th July 2009, during a raid by 150 to 200 members of a Christian church at a conference he had organised on "Child Rights and Witchcraft" in Calabar.

I worked for Stepping Stones for a while and the issue is horrendous. My personal opinion is that there are root causes that need to be addressed to start alleviating the problem. The issue doesn't just stem from a warped belief in pentacostal christianity, but also from a lack of education and development. In order to truely stop this we need decent schools and decent health care facilities for the people of Akwa Ibom, and the rest of the developing world.

@theindigonation I'm sorry to inform you that you are greatly mis-informed about Paganism, we do not recognize an evil being, Satan is creations of the Judea-Christianity religions, and they can keep him. Yes Witchcraft goes back about 25,000 years before Christ was born, scientists have already discovered that. There is nothing demonic about witchcraft, for one witches do not even acknowledge the existence of Satan. Satan is a creation of Judeo-Christianity. Modern witches, Wiccans have a basic rule, Harm none. Before spreading the hate, do your research please. Paganism began before Christ was even born, it was the predominate religion in the world.  The Roman Empire adopted Christianity and persecuted all those that didn't conform.
