@mattyhodg1 My school performed this at a spring concert when my friends and I were in third year, and we loved it so much that we demanded we do it again now that we're in our last year! We started rehearsals yesterday :D Yes the "How blest is he" section is magical, as is the entire Hymn Before Action but also the "Gloria" chord progression in the Sanctus. Utterly mesmerising musical moments.

@nickmaestro You're referring to the repeated dotted half notes on "charge!" across the choir? I enjoy that as well but I find that Hymn Before Action can definitely be described as epic, what with the marvelous chords in the choir (the tenor line is particularly brilliant), and the powerful ritardando on the line "Lord grant us strength to die!" For me, that is nothing short of epic. I do agree with you about the section at 3:50. My favorite part of Charge! is the "How blest is he..." section.
The word 'epic' was created for this alone!

Its my personal favorite of the whole mass. Not so much epic though, epic would be the next movement "Charge". About 3:50 into the work, something incredible happens.
