Version: Camstudio2.0
I always get scratchy sound when I record (from speakers option) but I found a way that works for me. Before you start, make sure the program you want to record from is open (music player, video, etc). Otherwise you get the "wavethingy can't be found"

If you look at the link below, you can see that you can record in better quality than what I did (my main goal was the audio fix)

I followed Jimmy's camstudio tutorial in the beginning and I still use many of his video settings. ^_^ It's linked below. It's a great video to get started.

For the way I got my sound "record from speakers to work" if you somehow missed it in the video....

1.)First, make sure you have some sort of music player or other program with music on. Basically, it should be the program you want to record sound from (leave it on pause or leave it on)

2.)I went to Options,Audio Options, then Record from Speakers Option

3.)Then Manual Search and clicked okay.

4.)There's a series of tones as the program does it's thing. You just click "yes" whenever you hear the tone again.

If this doesn't fix your audio options, then sorry. There's no other way that I found.

When making this video, I recorded the music before hand because camstudio doesn't record audio when it's doing the "manual search" during the recording. ^_^! That's why you don't hear the tones in the video itself.

  • When I try and set it to "Record audio from speakers" in Options it says "WaveoutGetSelectControl() failed"

It still selects it anyway and I get the same problems you have (recorded sounds is quite and distorted). Wish I could do what you did but when I try and do a Manual Search it tells me "Unable to detect recording line for speakers. Please make sure your soundcard is selected correctly in the 'Soundcard Device' of 'Audio Options for Speakers'."

My options are set to Realtek Audio Output..

  • Aw sowwie =( This was my last option because I tried everything else. There are other tutorials on just adjusting the volume control and things like that which works for other people but they didn't work for me.

  • I'm sorry but I diden't get wath the vidio was a bout... Look at me get thumbs down :P

  • It's not Yugioh Related XD! Don't worry about not getting it. It's just the program I use for video recordings and there's a lot of people who have "bad" sound so I just showed the way I fix it.

  • I've been recording or trying to record a walkthrough for a game. I'm using camstdio for this as I can get the best quality. But recording the music of the game and me speaking at the same time via my head set don't mix, it just won't pick up the sound, if i speak without the sound, its great but its so delayed. Wondering if codec helps this?
