This is me in front of the AEBI factory in Burgdorf. I'm driving the AEBI Terratrac TT270 up and down our test slope of 75% (That's ~37 degrees).

From our homepage:
"King of the slopes. The Aebi Terratrac are versatile implement carriers, for use in sloping terrain, with attachment areas at the front and rear. Thanks to the lightweight, broad design with a low centre of gravity and identically-sized Terra tyres all around, they are thoroughly at home on sloping terrain and minimize soil compaction. The finely graduated Terratrac programme encompasses models with mechanical or stepless hydrostatic drive. A range of front and rear attachments is available making the Terratrac useful all year round. Disc, drum or flail mowers, band hay rake, front loader, snow plough or snow blower can be mounted in front. Rear implements are for example: rotary harrow, plough, trailer, loader and round bale press. Their range of uses is almost limitless. The Terratrac -- ingenious state-of-the-art technology, a host of potential applications and a first-class investment."

  • Pretty cool, but going around slopes like that on the side is the challenge though is it not? I was in Switzerland a couple of years ago and saw them mowing grass on the sides of what looked like grassy cliffs. One guy even had a young child riding on the tractor! I bought a tracked Baroness in Japan after that, a fantastic machine, but my farm is flat!

  • Hi! Yes, you are right. This isn't really steep for this kind of vehicle and the traction on this concrete slope is much better than in real conditions. Normally, they use this slope only to test if the brakes, the differential locks (front, center, rear) and the whole drivetrain works properly. I drove this Terratrac up just for fun ;)

As you said, those vehicles are mainly designed to mow grass in very steep terrain as we have much here in switzerland. Other applications are...

  • ... snow plowing, snow blowing, harrowing. Nearly everything that can be done with a normal tractor.

Well, thats pretty common here. I rode on my dads tractor too as I was a boy ;)

I didn't know those Baroness but I just took a look at their website. Looks well built! Which type do you have?

  • And the price is?(euros)

  • @doormagic Should be around 100k euros but I don't know exactly.

  • That thing is pretty wicked... just sayin

  • @quesomepeace Yep, it is. You don't see tractors like this every day. It's specially built to master very steep terrain like we have it in the swiss mountains.
