The A-10 is an attack aircraft clue in the A if it was a bomber it would have a B infront of it. Hence a B-2 or a B-52. Another example of an attack aircraft is the A-6 Infiltrator. the harriers AV stands for attack vtol.

A-10s were credited with a couple of shootdowns during Desert Storm so technically yes, it is a fighter, it just doesn't dogfight very often because it is too busy destroying ground targets.
